This interactive simulation was created part out of necessity when I realized a school I taught at had minimal technology with which to introduce students to microbiology, and part out of curiosity as to how online video could be made both educational and participatory. It was a refreshing shift from estrainging jargon and technical diagrams to an intuitive, exploratory experience, with a bit of help from Adobe After Effects. This sim was especially appreciated among those who have had trouble just locating specimens in a microscope, and could now just focus on their conceptual learning.
